The project
SI-Moutique (Identity System Modica), was created in the southeast of Sicily with the aim to focus on the ancestral territory in relationship with what was built and territory in ancient Modica. In fact a process of identity, with an analysis of the relationship between man and the environment over time, aiming to characterize the more complex aspects of a large and different territory included in what was once the County of Modica.
A system designed by Si-Moutique and directed to tourist accommodation and hospitality with “the forefathers’ houses” in the Old Town, Don Nele’s House in the countryside of Modica and AnnaMare’s House , near the coast,in Marina di Modica.
To support these , the widespread Museum is “Murika, stories of stones” tradition and culture, art, history, handicraft, gastronomy and contemporary.
The identity of Iblea that goes from historical and architectural heritage to the landscape, the people and their customs, and even their physiognomy, characteristics that, in their indissoluble unity, characterize this specific, unique identity of the place. A land of extraordinary beauty, opulence from Mediterranean flora and fauna to the singularity of hypogee structures, from Baroque architecture to the Greek and Byzantine ruins, from fine beaches to the characteristics of a rural intact landscape and only in this land the stone with its variants dominates the iblea identity
The ibleo plateau ,morphologically rocky, marked by deep cuts in limestone caves and quarries, is characterized by millennial works of man which over the centuries has left amazing signs of different civilizations.
These places offer themselves as sites of great interest not only in the landscape and archaeological aspects but also in the anthropological and ethno-tourism and considerable cultural cohesion and continuity with their past. The economic, urban and human context evolved in recent decades is still largely rural, not very noisy and pleasant.
In the quiet of the countryside, including extensive pastures or seaside, you can discover ancient villas, farms, rural tourist facilities, homes for vacationing, shaded by century-old carob and majestic olive trees.
Below blue marked by the flying of the kestrel and buzzard, and not far away the golden light of the sunset over the sea.
Here it isn’t extremely difficult to invent pathways between spaces dotted with sumac, olive trees and palmettos and along the “trazzere” overflowing with capers, asparagus, daffodils and mugweet; among aromatic scents of thyme and catmint.
The traveler by following the footsteps of Vittorini, Quasimodo, Fiume, Levi, Pasolini, Bufalino, and finally the Commissario Montalbano, walks along these urban fabrics with medieval fortifications, where you can find “the Baroque acropolis” or great temples of Christianity, located along the golden sands and crystal clear waters , on the ancient farm houses enriched all around by stone walls and stone courtyards with the smell of freshly baked homemade bread, ricotta, honey and cheese.
The resource materials in the field are represented by the monuments, museums, the typical foods, the landscape, the architectural emergencies; while the intangible culture is represented by the traditions, the professionalism and history.
Through the creation of new links among the people , cultural, environmental and economic resources the local identity and feeling of belonging to their territory has been reinforced
